8015M cleanup standards and results on Table 4-2B by three orders of
magnitude.
1.7 Figure 4-1. On Figure 4-1, DP0038 does not have an asterisk next to it. Based
on the text on page 4-6, second paragraph, sample location DP0038 at SWMU
6 contains concentrations of trichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4,5-T) and dieldrin
greater than soil cleanup standards. Based on the legend, the asterisk
highlights locations where contaminants with concentrations greater than
cleanup standards still exist at the site. Please add the asterisk to sample
location DP0038.
1.8 Figure 4-2. There is a discrepancy between this figure and the photographs in
Appendix D in representing the proximity of the excavation to Building 10.
The figure shows the excavation at SWMU 20 stopping approximately three
feet north of Building 10 and seven feet from the gas line on the west side of
the building. Given this representation of the site, it is difficult to understand
the statement on page 4-7 that further excavation in the vicinity of DP0047
could not be done without impacting site structures. However, the photographs
in Appendix D, pages 7 and 8 of 16, appear to indicate that the excavation
reached the north side of the building, exposed the building corner, and
extended several feet along the west side of the building. Please revise Figure
4-2 to clearly represent that the excavation reached Building 10 or provide an
explanation on page 4-7 of the apparent discrepancy between the figure and the
photographs and explain how further excavation would impact site structures.
1.9 Figure 4-3. Based on the text on page 4-8, fourth paragraph, and Tables 4-2C
and 5-1, sample location DP0102 at SWMU 27 contains concentrations of
diesel and motor oil greater than soil cleanup standards. However, on Figure
4-1, DP0102 does not have an asterisk next to it. Please add the asterisk to
sample location DP0102 and a note in the legend to denote that contaminants
with concentrations greater than cleanup standards still exist at the site, as was
done for the other figures.
1.10 Section 5.3, SWMU 27, last sentence. The text recommends no further
action. However, residual contamination above ROD-specified soil cleanup
standards remains at SWMU 27, and the text on page 4-8, fourth paragraph,
states that remediation of residual soil contamination and groundwater at
SWMU 27 is being investigated under the UST program. Since the residual
contamination is petroleum hydrocarbons only, revise the recommendation to
3
