UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
Region 9
75 Hawthorne Street 1Q1 SEP 10 AM 10 56
San Francisco CA 94105-3901
PA
August 6,2001
Mr. Dale Clemens
Environmental Protection Office
DD-Tracy
P.O.Box 960001
Stockton, CA 95296-0250
RE: DD-Tracy FFA Schedule Extension Request Letter,August 27, 2001
Dear Mr Clemens,
The above referenced letter(signed by John Guzman)was received in our office via facsimile on
August 28, 2001. This letter requests an extension to the FFA schedule for two DD-Tracy primary
documents: Draft Final Amendment to the ROD for DSERTS 72, OU-1 GWTP surface discharge, and
SWMU 4 and the Remedial Action Report,Small Excavation (SWMUs 4, 6, 20, 27 and Wet Season
Controls. Further, this letter requests the elimination of design/work plan for SWMU 4 based on the
presumed acceptance of an alternative remedy in the ROD amendment.
EPA concurs the requested extensions as proposed(see attachment). However, EPA feels it
would be premature to eliminate the earlier proposed design/work plan for SWMU 4 prior to the
finalization of the ROD amendment and the review of any potential public comment on the newly
proposed remedy.
Please feel free to contact me at 415-744-2392 if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Michael Work
Federal Facilities Cleanup Office
Superfund Division(SFD-8-3)
Attachment
