Mr. Maurice Benson -3- 18 March 2011
Defense Logistics Agency
Other Comments
1. Central Valley Water Board staff concurred with DLA's decision to shutdown
extraction well EW021A on 9 February 2020.
2. Central Valley Water Board staff do not concur with shutdown of extraction well
EW011AU. DLA should evaluate the feasibility of modifying or replacing the pump
in this well to reduce the groundwater extraction rate. Also, DLA should evaluate
the feasibility of installing an extraction well closer to the TCE source at former
Warehouse 10. If such a well were installed, it may then be appropriate to
shutdown EW011AU.
3. Central Valley Water Board staff concur with DLA's recommendation to shutdown
extraction well EW040AU.
4. DLA should rehabilitate extraction well EW048AU to improve its performance.
This may accelerate the cleanup of residual dieldrin-contaminated groundwater
from the sanitary sewage lagoon plumes.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 464-4675, or by email at
jbrownell@waterboards.ca.gov.
tjW
James R.
