Individual well location, Lotus spreadsheets tables, presented in Appendix A (also attached)
calculated for each compound the risk and hazard for both the average and RME concentration. These
tables suggest that arsenic contributes more than 50% of the carcinogenic risk at each well except for
LM30A, where arsenic contributes approximately 23% of the risk. Dieldrin generally is the second-
leading contributor to carcinogenic risks. PCE and TCE are lesser contributors to carcinogenic risks
except at wells LM25A (17%) and LM30A (77%). PCE and TCE contribute 100% of the
carcinogenic risks at wells LM24A, LM3913, LM32A, LM76A, LM88C, and LM10213.
Similarly, arsenic contributes greater than 50% of the total hazard at each of these wells,
except for wells LM25A (35%) and LM30A (20%). PCE, TCE, chlordane, dieldrin, and manganese
are all contributors to the total hazard. Again, if a residential exposure scenario were utilized for these
calculations, all would exhibit a total hazard of greater than one (1.0), and remediation of these
compounds would be required by the NCP.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (415) 744-2392.
Sincerely,
1 Af
Michael Work
Federal Facilities Cleanup Office (H-9)
Hazardous Waste Management Division
Attachment
cc: (See Distribution List)
2
