WORK PLAN FOR EXCAVATION
OF HYDROCARBON IMPACTED SOIL
Country Mart
34243 South Chrisman Road-
Tracy,
oadTracy, California
January 1995
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Mr. Pushpinder Singh, Geological Audit Services, Inc.
(GeoAudit) has prepared this work plan to perform excavation procedures at 34243 South
Chrisman Road in Tracy, California (the site). The location of the site is illustrated in
Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0 BACKGROUND
It is our understanding that three underground storage tanks (USTs), dispenser islands and
associated piping were removed from the site in January 1995. After removal procedures,
soil samples were collected from beneath each UST. Samples collected from beneath the
northern-most tank indicated the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil.
Soil samples were also collected from beneath the dispenser islands and piping. Two soil
samples indicated that hydrocarbon impacted soil is present near the east and west dispenser
islands. According to information obtained from Mr. Singh, groundwater depth in the
vicinity of the site is reported to be in excess of 120 feet.
3.0 SCOPE OF WORK
GeoAudit recommends excavation of the reported contamination below the former USTs.
Additional soil will be removed from the northern portion of the existing UST excavation.
A representative of GeoAudit will supervise and direct the excavation and will collect all
necessary soil samples.
The excavation dimensions are presently 30 by 20 feet and is approximately 20 feet in depth.
GeoAudit proposes to extend the excavation to a depth of approximately 26 feet. Soil will
also be excavated from the north, east and west sidewalls (approximately 2 to 3 feet beyond
G-byol M&S.M...1-
SG95-01-10760ZC0UI.TRY MART/-
1
