O'Brien
Waste Discharge to Land Unit
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
11020 Sun Center Drive #200
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670-6114
Subject: Reply to Comments on Monitoring Well Installation Workplan and
Groundwater Sampling and Analysis Plan,
City of Lathrop
Dear Mr. O'Brien,
During our April 20th telephone conversation, you shared five concerns regarding
the City of Lathrop's Monitoring Well Installation Workplan and Groundwater
Sampling and Analysis Plan. Below I've listed the concerns as I understood
them, followed by our recommended workplan revisions designed to address
these concerns.
1) Locate the monitoring wells more centrally within the agricultural disposal
fields and irrigated park areas.
Representatives for the City of Lathrop have requested that the wells be installed
towards the center of the fields, and highly visible protection be provided around
the wells.
2) Use a 10-inch auger to prevent possible sand bridging when installing the
filter pack.
The drilling rigs scheduled for well construction shall utilize 10-inch augers.
