The facility(Site) is located at 800 West Church Street in Stockton, California(Plates 1 and <br /> 2)(Site). This work plan and.permit were requested in a December 6,2000 PHS/EHD letter to Newark <br /> which indicated that the four wells must be destroyed prior to issuance of the site closure letter. <br /> BACKGROUND i <br /> In 1998,HLA performed environmental investigations at two areas within the Newark facility. One of these <br /> areas consisted of the two Number 4 6 fuel USTs and an adjacent sump located within the courtyard of main <br /> plant building(Plate 2). The second area consisted of a 210,000-gallon Number 6 fuel oil UST located in the <br /> southeast corner of the Newark facility(Plate 2). The results of these investigations were presented in two <br /> reports entitled Closure Report 210,000-gallon UST Removal Project and Summary Report Limited Phase II <br /> Investigation, Courtyard Tanks and Sump(HLA, 1998a and 1998b). PHS/EHD requested further information <br /> which was submitted in reports entitled Additional Closure Information, Mass Calculations and Compilation <br /> of Monitoring Well Data(HLA, 1999)and Additional Requested.Closure Information 2;000 foot Radius Well <br /> Survey and Physical Search(Harding ESE, 2000). <br /> WORK PLAN FOR WELL DESTRUCTION <br /> s <br /> Destruction of the wells will be performed in accordance with the requirements of San Joaquin County Well <br /> Standards(Section 13.17)and the State of California Well Standards Bulletins 74-81 and 74-90(California <br /> { Department of Water Resources, 1981 and 1991).
