December 4, 2005
4088053170 01
Mr. Jeff Wong
San Joaquin County
Page 3
Northwest Corner
MACTEC proposes the installation of three soil borings(B-19 B-20, and B-21) in the northwest
corner of the Site (Figure 2). All three of these borings will be,ladvanced to water and groundwater
samples will be collected.
The samples from this area will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg)
using EPA Method 8015M, for benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)using EPA
Method 8020M, and for 4-Methyl-2-Pentone(MIBK)using EPA Method 8260.
I
J
Southwest Corner j
MACTEC proposes the installation of three soil borings(B-22 B-23,B-24) in the southwest corner of
the Site(Figure 2). All three of these borings will be advanced,to water and groundwater samples
will be collected. '
The samples from this area will be analyzed for TPHg and TPHd using EPA Method 8015M with
silica gel cleanup (EPA Method 3630C)to remove naturally occurring polar hydrocarbon compounds
from the diesel analysis, and for BTEX using EPA Method 802i0M.
'
Southeast Corner
MACTEC proposes the installation of six soil borings(B-25 though B-30) in the southeast corner of
the Site (Figure 2). The three borings located in the identified downgradient positions(B-25,B-26,
and B-27) of the previously installed soil borings B-11,13-14, and B-15 will be advanced to water and
groundwater samples will be collected.
The samples from this area will be analyzed for TPHd using EPA Method 8015M with silica gel
cleanup (EPA Method 3630C). j
Upon conclusion of the boring program, the temporary wells will be removed and all boreholes will
be backfilled to the surface with grout. Samples will be collected using our standard field protocols
that have been accepted by the regulatory agencies, and transported under chain-of-custody to a State-
certified laboratory for chemical analysis. Soil generated from)utility clearing activities and rinsate
water will be stored onsite, in separate,DOT approved 55-gallon drums pending analysis and proper
i
disposal. i.
Report
Following completion of the field work and receipt and review',of the sample analytical results,
MACTEC will prepare a written letter report that summarizes our field observations and sampling
`i
i
i
