(Geosyntec) has prepared
the subject Work Plan to characterize the lateral and vertical extent of toluene in groundwater
downgradient from the Dopaco, Inc. Area of 800 West Church Street, Stockton, California (the
"Site"). The Site location is shown in Figure 1.
BACKGROUND
Geosyntec reported the results of an investigation consisting of Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT)
soundings and grab groundwater sampling on the north side of Church Street on 30 July 20131. A
total of five grab groundwater samples were collected from three locations to a maximum depth
of 45 feet below ground surface (ft bgs). Toluene was detected in two of the five samples at 0.8
and 1.4 micrograms per liter (µg/L), and toluene was not detected at all at one of the sample
locations. No other volatile organic. compounds (VOCs) were detected in the grab groundwater
samples. The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), by letter dated
10 February 20142, indicated that additional investigation was necessary to the north of Church
Street and recommended installing monitoring wells.
