When the
hazardous waste hauler picks up hazardous waste they remove items from the totes but do not clean them out. It
could not be determined if ammonia or ammonia containing products had been stored in that same tote. There was
white powder at the bottom of the tote. Incompatible wastes shall not be placed in the same container, or in an
unwashed container that previously held an incompatible waste or material. A container holding a hazardous waste
that is incompatible with any waste or other materials transferred or stored nearby in other containers, piles, open
tanks, or surface impoundments shall be separated from the other materials or protected from them by means of a
dike, berm, wall, or other device. Immediately begin the practice of maintaining totes free of incompatible
wastestreams.
This is a Class II violation.
601 CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days.
Aerosol can of glass cleaner with missing actuator and stem was seen stored in a box of"product withdrawals"
without a label. It could not be determined how long the aerosol can had been stored there. Facilities who generate
less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored on site at any time may
store waste on site up to 180 days. Immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste
under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD.
This is a Class II violation.
605 CCR 66262.34(f) Failed to completely label containers or tanks of hazardous waste.
Corrosive base tote missing the contents.
Empty Toxic tote had to start accumulation dates marked 12-18-2014 and 12-7-2013.
1 aerosol can (glass cleaner)was seen stored in a box without an actuator or stem. All hazardous waste containers
shall be marked with the following information:
-the words "Hazardous Waste'
- name and address of generator
- hazardous properties
- physical state
-composition (contents)
-accumulation start date
Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required information.
Because it can not be determined how long the aerosol can has been onsite, immediately have it removed and provide
this office with either a copy of the hazardous waste manifest or the universal waste bill of lading.
This is a Class II violation.
Overall Inspection Comments:
Routine HW inspection conducted on December 29, 2014. A checklist of violations was left onsite.
Permission to do the inspection ,take photos, and samples was given by store manager Billy Cuba.
Received by Inspector: Phone: Date:
(initial): MICHELLE HENRY, Senior REHS (209)468-3454 12/29/2014
Page 5 of 6
