WTHACTOR
TractorSupply.com
As indicated in the Program Reference Guide, some animal balms and ointments and animal nutrition products
are to be placed in the Black bucket. This is because'these items are California hazardous(CA waste code 223)
when they become a waste, but they are not RCRA hazardous waste. Most animal vaccines, however, are to be
placed in the Blue bucket, because they are RCRA hazardous waste(Toxic).
3. Item 8303: Eye Wash Solution. you indicated that during your inspection, the eye wash solutions near the
hazardous waste storage area were expired, and you inquired on how the solution was disposed.
RESPONSE: New eye wash bottles were ordered through our internal Supply Chest. Annually the store is
requiredto confirm that the eye wash bottles are not expired through a Daily Task Communication. Additionally,
proper disposal of all California medical waste is important to Tractor Supply, and we are currently addressing-
this incident as part of our ongoing program improvements.
4. Item 8605: Container t.abeling. The comments noted from your Inspection report stated that the Red and Black
buckets did not list the contents, and the Black bucket was also missing the hazardous property.
RESPONSE: Since your December 2014 inspection, the labels on the buckets have been updated. Previously,
each store had two labels affixed to each bucket, with one identifying the bucket color and the other identifying
the hazardous waste information(e.g.contents,physical state, hazardous properties, etc.) We updated our
program(9/29/15)to combine the labels into one label, and as described below, the new labels address the
concerns you identified. Under the current Bucket program, stores are required to complete specific information
on each bucket label, while hazardous properties and other requisite Information is pre-filled on each bucket
label. The updated labels include the following:
The words'Hazardous Waste"
Name and address of generator
• Accumulation start date
• Contents(composition)
• Physical state
• Hazardous properties
The updated label and directions on completing the label can be found in the Program Reference Guide included
with this letter.
In addition to our responses, please find the signed Return to Compliance Certification,as requested.
I appreciate your time in discussing the inspection with me and your clarification from the inspection. If you would like to
discuss further,please let me know.
S lux(MTZ7
Brian S ears '
P
Manager,Safety&Environmental Compliance
Phone: 615-440-4115
5401 Virginia Way
Brentwood,TN 37027
,M 615-440-4000
