A S S O C I A T E S I N C
Summary Report of
ation
Additional Subsurface Investigation
 g
N& S Irrigation
215 West Main Street
Ripon, California
ATC Project No. 14981.0001
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report summarizes procedures and practices utilized by ATC Associates Inc. to investigate
impacted soil and groundwater associated with the former underground storage tanks (USTs)
located at 215 West Main Street, Ripon, California. The investigation consisted of drilling four
soil borings and collecting soil and groundwater samples for analysis.
1_1 Site Location
The site is located on the north side of West Main Street and the east side of Locust Avenue in
Ripon, California, as shown on Figure 1. The location is a residential and commercial area. The
site is currently occupied by N& S Irrigation.
1.2 . Site Background and Previous Work
In March 1990, one 1,500-gallon unleaded gasoline UST, one unleaded gasoline UST of
unknown size, and all associated piping and dispensing equipment were removed and transported
off-site. Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from beneath the former 1,500-gallon UST
location indicated the presence of detectable concentrations total petroleum hydrocarbons. j
Discoloration of the soil and a petroleum hydrocarbon odor were noted in the field. Aft er the
tanks were removed, the area of the former tanks was backfilled. Former tank locations are
shown on Figure 2.
On November 14, 1997, aeolo ist from ATC Associates supervised the advancement of two
g g
soil borings to 30 feet below ground surface (bgs). A site plan showing soil boring locations is
included as Figure 2. Soil samples were collected at five-foot intervals and grab groundwater {
samples were collected from each boring. Samples were analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons
and elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil and groundwater
samples.
2.0 METHOD AND PROCEDURES
All work described herein was performed in accordance with ATC's Workplan for Additional
Subsurface Investigation, dated April 30, 1998, which was approved with minor modifications by
I
wA1 498 1\1 498 1\reports\psii.doc 1
