The samples will be analyzed on a normal laboratory schedule
requiring approximately two weeks (ten working days) for completion.
Once the samples have been analyzed, the results must be evaluated
for use of the soil as excavation backfill, on-site treatment,
and/or off-site treatment/disposal. The results of that evaluation
will be summarized in a short report which will be submitted to West
Clay Properties and the SJCEHD upon completion. That short report
could be used to evaluate some disposal/remediation alternatives for
the soil.
7) Materials Testing/Inspection of Excavation Backfill Materials
Currently, it is proposed that the excavation be backfilled by the
excavation contractor from the excavation bottom to a depth of 30
feet below grade with a pea gravel backfill. Those materials, when
properly placed, will provide a stable surface without the addition
of excess water. From a depth of 30 feet to existing grade the
excavation will be backfilled by the excavation contractor with
Engineered Fill. The Engineered Fill should be moisture-treated at
the surface, placed into the excavation and wheel-roiled to 90
percent relative compaction (ASTM D-1557-86) . Every reasonable
effort should be made to limit excess water in the Engineered Fill.
Observation of the pea gravel placement and compaction testing of
the Engineered Fill is separate from this bid proposal and will be
• determined by West Clay Properties at a later date.
8) Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the
analytical results, a report of findings will be prepared for West
Clay Properties and agency review. The report will include:
A description of all background activity, results, and
conclusions of previous soil and groundwater assessments.
A description of the field activities, observations, and
protocols
Lithologic logs
Tabulated results of soil and groundwater samples with copies of
certified results
A groundwater elevation contour map for the monitoring event
and an estimate of the groundwater gradient direction
Description and documentation of QA/QC procedures employed
for field and laboratory work
Consultant ' s conclusions and recommendations based on the
data acquired
• 9) Additional Monitoring Events
Following the completion of Task 8 . , additional groundwater
monitoring will likely be necessary. Please include an itemized bid
for the quarterly sampling of five (5) wells . The wells must be
