In KLEINEELDER
5 RESULTS
5.1 Groundwater Elevations
Depth-to-water from the three monitoring wells ranged from 34 95 to 36 44 feet on April
1 4, 1994 These measurements were subtracted from the surveyed top of casing elevations
(relative to an established bench mark) to obtain a relative groundwater elevation for each
well (Table 3) The groundwater elevations were within a total range of 2 54 feet (29 31
to 31 85 feet) A groundwater gradient and direction were calculated using the relative
groundwater elevations The groundwater flow direction was estimated to be to the east
northeast at a shallow gradient of 0 0073 ft/ft
52 Analytical Results
Twelve (12) soil samples and two (2) groundwater samples were submitted under chain-of-
custody procedures to State of California certified laboratories to provide a quantitative
assessment of petroleum hydrocarbons, present in soil and groundwater at the site The
laboratory used is California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) certified for
the requested analyses The soil and water samples selected for analysis were based on PID
readings, field observations, and the objectives of the work scope Analytical results for the
soil and water samples are summarized on Tables 1 and 2 The laboratory data sheets and
chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix E
5.2.1 Soil Samples
Twelve (12) soil samples obtained from our borings pond were analyzed to determine the
presence and concentration of the following
• TPH extractable by EPA Method 3550 (kerosene range)
• TPH purgeable by EPA Method 5030 (gasoline range)
• BTEX by EPA Method 8020
0 TRPH by EPA Method 418 1
5.1.2 Groundwater Samples
All three (3) groundwater samples obtained from our groundwater morutoring wells were
analyzed to determine the presence and concentration of the following
9 TPH extractable by EPA Method 3550 (kerosene range)
• TPH purgeable by EPA Method 5030 (gasoline range)
« BTEX by EPA Method 8020
• TRPH by EPA Method 418 1
ETH and IVC/94 Page 8 of Il
Copyright 1994 Kleinfelder Inc
