File No 20-3769-01/AO5 k" K L E IN F E L D E R <br /> November 11, 1994 <br /> lined with three brass tubes, into the undisturbed soil The sampler is then removed from the <br /> bottom of the boring The ends of the bottom (Hurd) tube are covered with Teflon and sealed <br /> with tight fitting plastic caps <br /> Each sample is individually labeled The label includes Kleinfelder's name, ,lob number, the date <br /> and time the sample was collected, the employee number of the individual who performed the <br /> sampling, and a unique five-digit sample identification number A custody seal may be placed <br /> on the sample in such a way that any attempt to tamper with the sample is easily visible <br /> B-2.4 Sample Handling <br /> After labeling, the sample is immediately stored in an iced cooler for transport to Kleinfelder's <br /> office sample control or to the analytical laboratory A Kleinfelder sham-of-custody form <br /> accompanies the cooler The chain-of-custody form includes Kleiifelder's name, address, and <br /> telephone number, the employee number of the individual who performed the sampling, the <br /> sample numbers, the date and time the samples were collected, the number of containers each <br /> sample occupies, and the analyses for which the samples are being submitted, if any When the <br /> samples are delivered, the chain-of-custody form is signed by each person who handles the <br /> samples, including all Kleinfelder employees and the receiving employee of office sample control <br /> 10 or the analytical laboratory <br /> B-2.5 Decontamination of Equipment <br /> To reduce the potential for cross-contamination, augers and associated equipment are steam <br /> cleaned prior to drilling each boring In addition, sampling equipment is cleaned with a <br /> trisodium-phosphate or laboratory detergent wash and rinsed with distilled water prior to <br /> collecting each soil sample <br /> B-2.6 Soil Cutting Disposal <br /> osal <br /> Drill cuttings are placed in 55-gallon drums or on top of and covered by polyvisquene for <br /> storage The soil is left on site for disposal by the site owner If requested, Kleinfelder can <br /> coordinate disposal of soil and water after analytical results are available <br /> ETH and WC/94 f 5 2 0 e <br />' Copyright 1994 Kleinfelder, Inc Page <br />
