a <br /> +� w <br /> MAY �,r` <br /> M ren.. <br /> �j kn KLEINFELDER <br /> An ernrifot L' r,,,nE d�omp rm <br /> File No 20-3769-01 C01 <br /> May 8,1996 <br /> Mr Dan Silva <br /> West Clay Properties <br /> 639 West Clay Street <br /> Stockton, California 95204 <br /> Subject May 1996 Groundwater Report <br /> West Clay Properties Commercial Site <br /> 639 West Clay Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> (APN 147-071-10) <br /> Dear Mr Silva <br /> On May 6, 1996, a Kleinfelder representative visited the subject site to conduct a groundwater <br /> sampling of the three existing monitoring wells at the above-referenced site Prior to sampling, a <br /> water-level survey was conducted of the three existing monitoring wells Water levels were <br /> found to be above the screened interval of the wells Mr Steve Sasson of the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) <br /> therefore decided groundwater samples should not be obtained at that time His decision was <br /> based on the potential that chemical analysis of water samples obtained from wells with a <br /> groundwater level above the well-screened interval, frequently result in lower concentrations of <br /> fuel hydrocarbons than the actual aquifer concentration <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> All wells were sounded for groundwater depth and checked for free product on May 6, 1996 In <br /> accordance with the approval of Mr Steve Sasson of the PHS/EHD no groundwater samples <br /> were obtained from wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 (Plate 1), due to elevated groundwater <br /> levels Groundwater levels were found to be approximately 5 99-feet to 15 18-feet above the <br /> screened interval of the three monitoring wells During the initial construction of the three <br /> monitoring wells on March 28, 1994, groundwater was first encountered between the depths of <br /> approximately 36 to 41 feet below surface grade (bsg) On May 6, 1996, the groundwater levels <br /> were found at depths of 24 01-feet to 24 97 feet bsg Mr Sasson assessed that groundwater <br /> contaminants would likely be diluted, and therefore decided groundwater sampling should not be <br /> conducted Each of the three wells were noted with a hydrocarbon Iike odor No floating <br /> product or sheen was observed The groundwater gradient direction, based on calculations and <br /> contours, flows toward the north/northeast at a gradient of approximately 0 037 ft /ft For the <br /> locations of the monitoring wells, please refer to Plate 1 <br /> 20-3769-01CORAM960094 Page 1 of 3 Copyright 1995,Kleinfelder Inc <br /> KLEINFELDER 2825 East i\,1wJe Street Stockton CA 93205-4794 (209) 948-1345 j2091 948-0621 rnx <br />
