I29 December 2000 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0235 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> 1 <br /> II 1 1 S <br />' 2 2 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable plastic bailers Each <br /> water sample was transferred into 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5,ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a <br /> sample preservative and into 1-liter amber bottles without preservative After collection, the samples <br /> were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to <br /> IMcCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)- <br /> certified analytical laboratory, and were analyzed for <br /> Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and as diesel (TPH-d) in <br /> accordance with EPA Methods 5030 and 8015m, e <br /> • Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons - benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) <br /> with methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) In accordance with EPA Method 60218020, and for <br /> Fuel oxygenates - di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE, <br /> tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8260 Modified <br /> 1 • <br /> I23 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> On 25, 26 and 27 July 2000, nine soil borings (MW-11A and B, MW-12A and B, MW13A and B, f <br /> EW-1, EW-2 and AS-1)were advanced at the site using a CME 75 HT drill rig, equipped with 8 25- <br /> inch diameter hollow-stem augers (MW-11A through MW-13B and AS-1) and 10-inch diameter <br /> hollow-stem augers (EW-1 and EW-2) The drill rig and two-man crew were supplied by Mitchell <br /> Drilling Environmental of Rancho Cordova Auger returns generated by drilling were stored on-site <br /> on plastic sheeting, pending laboratory analysis <br /> .r <br /> Soil samples'from borings were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California modified spirt- <br /> spoon sampler loaded with three pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves Samples were collected <br /> -° -at five-foot-intervals, beginning at 20 feet bsg using a 140-pound hammer to advance the sampler - <br /> The number of blows required to advance the split-spoon sampler over each 6-inch increment of the <br /> 18-inch sampling interval was recorded on the boring logs Sampling equipment was washed in an <br /> Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each sampling run to avoid cross-contarnmation <br /> { <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the leading or other selected sleeve with <br /> Teflon sheets, capping with plastic and sealing with tape The samples were labeled, stored on ice <br /> and transported under chain-of custody to MAI <br /> I <br /> Advanced GeoEnvtronmental,Inc <br />
