y <br /> , r <br /> 20 September 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0235 <br /> 1 n <br /> Page 4 of 8 <br /> In addition, a drill rig equipped with 12-inch diameter hollow-stem augers,will be utilized to advance <br /> a pilot soil boring immediately north of the former UST No 3 location(near soil boring B10) The <br /> boring will be completed as a ground water extraction well with six-inch diameter screened casing <br /> Due to the close proximity of previous borings, soil samples will not be collected during <br />' advancement of the proposed extraction well pilot boring The total depth and screen interval of the <br /> proposed extraction well will be based on findings from the CPT investigation <br />' The borings'and monitoring wells will be advanced and installed following procedures detailed in <br /> the AGE-prepared Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan-March 1998, dated 31 March 1998 and <br /> approved by the PHS-EHD by letter dated 11 May 1998 Procedures for the advancement ofthe CPT <br /> borings and advancment and completion of the ground water extraction well are described below in <br /> ,Section 3 1 and 3 2 A generalized groundwater monitoring well design is illustrated on Figure 4, <br />' the proposed extraction well design is illustrated in Figure 3 The proposed well locations are <br /> depicted on Figure 2 <br /> 25 SOIL SAMPLE ANALYSES <br /> i ,• Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services <br /> (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents <br /> ' o Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g)' and diesel (TPH-d) In <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, <br /> ' Volatile aromatic compounds - benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) and - <br /> methyl tert-butyl ether'(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020 <br /> Selected soil samples collected near the former UST cluster area will also be analyzed for <br /> ' <br /> ' Fuel additives including -"di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), <br /> MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol, ethanol, <br /> ethyl drbronude (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA)-in accordance with EPA Method <br /> ' 8260 Modified . <br /> To determine the potential for natural degradation,or enhanced biodegradation of contaminants, <br /> selected soil samples will be transported to A Keith Kaufman and analyzed for physicochemical <br /> properties and bioenumeration <br /> ' Advanced GeoLnvironmental,Inc <br />
