D
SEP 0 1 2004 August 30, 2004
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Mr. Catanyag,
Regarding your request to have all containers of hazardous waste labeled
with the appropriate information, all containers are now in compliance with such
labeling, using the "HAZARDOUS WASTE" label provided by you, as the
prototype.
Regarding your request for separate containment of used oil and fuel filters,
an appropriate container has now been employed for their separate collection.
Regarding your request for documentation related to the removal of
hazardous waste, please find enclosed copies of the most recent records for our
recycled oil pick-up, (manifest number 23810703) and the next most recent
documentation from February of 2002 (manifest number 21658827). Any prior
documentation for recycled oil, reaches back at least 3 Superintendents' ago, and
I was unable to find any further documentation relating to oil pick-up. With
regard to documentation relating to any other "waste streams," I could find no
documentation for used oil filters, spent absorbent, etc. It seems that many years
pass between the pick-up of most or all of these other waste streams, (nearly 21/2
years for waste oil alone), and as people move in and out of the position
currently occupied by myself, I suspect older documents are discarded, or
otherwise lost over time or during such moves.
Finally, the contingency plan for our facility has been posted in the break
room, and all maintenance personnel have been instructed in the proper
procedures involved in dealing with hazardous waste, and in the event of an
emergency involving those hazardous materials.
Please contact me if you require anything further.
Sincerely,
Sean M. Duffy - Golf Course Superintendent
