The GMR shows that groundwater beneath the site contained
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX), total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and the
fuel additives methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA). The highest
detectable concentrations were found at N-15 which contained benzene at 2,400 µg/1 and TPH in
the gasoline range at 8,500 µg/l. N-22 contained MTBE at 5.9 µg/1 and TBA at 390 µg/l. The
NPDES MR contains the first quarter 2001 reporting as required by Waste Discharge
Requirements Order No. 5-00-217 issued on 27 October 2000.
The WP is acceptable so long as the following comments are incorporated into the work or
adequately addressed prior to beginning work.
1. The WP proposes to accomplish source area characterization'in two phases.
