The work plan is approved with the following
conditions:
1. In addition to the proposed analyses, all soil, groundwater, and surface water samples shall also be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel.
2. The vertical extent of groundwater contamination shall be defined through at least two borings, one
on either side of Cook Road. The borings shall be logged, and grab groundwater samples collected
from the next deeper water bearing zone below that with known contamination. The samples shall
be analyzed for TPH as diesel, TPH as gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and
MTBE.
3. Because well M-10 contains highly elevated levels of xylenes, soil gas sampling should extend
further east of M-10 than proposed.
4. The final location of new monitoring well N-20 shall be discussed with me before you begin drilling
the well.
5. A report of results for this work shall be submitted by 30 January 1999.
Please contact me when you have scheduled the exact dates for field work. I can be reached by
telephone at (916) 255-3080 or by e-mail at wyelsw@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
WENDY WYELS
Site Cleanup Unit
cc: Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Scott Seyfried, Levine-Fricke-Recon, Roseville
California Environmental Protection Agency
ca Recycled Paper
