(SGI) has prepared this Site
investigation Work Plan (Work Plan) for the Former Countryside Market located at 10848
Copperopolis Road, Stockton, California, referred to as Emergency Abandonment and
' Recalcitrant (EAR) Site No. R10-129 (Site, Figure 1). This Work Plan has been prepared in
response to CRWQCB correspondence entitled Work Plan Approval, Former Countryside
Market, 10848 Copperopolis Road, Stockton, San Joaquin County (LUSTIS NO. 390783), dated
' December 4, 2008 (Appendix A). The objectives of the proposed scope of work described in
this Work Plan are to:
' • Conduct a sensitive receptor to survey to identify domestic wells surrounding the
property; and,
' • Characterize the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact in soil and
groundwater beneath the Site.
BACKGROUND
The Site is located in eastern San Joaquin County, approximately two miles east of the city
' limits of Stockton, and southeast of the intersection of Copperopolis Road and Tulsa Road. The
Site vicinity is primarily rural residential and agricultural. The Site is vacant with the current
owner occupying a single-family residence on a separate parcel of land directly south of the
' Site.
Countryside Market, a former gasoline service station and convenience store occupied the
' property until about 1993. It is believed the property has been vacant since early 1993.
In March 1993, Stockton Service Equipment Co. removed two 1,000-gallon leaded gasoline
(underground storage tanks) from the property. Four soil samples (TK1N, TK1S, TK2N, and
TK2S) were collected from beneath the USTs at depths of approximately 7.5 feet below ground
surface (bgs). The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
' (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX compounds), ethylene dibromide
' 944 McCourtney Road, Suite H Telephone: (530)272-4200
Grass Valley, California 95949 Facsimile: (530)272-4211
