C <br /> 1.3 Scope of Work <br /> The purpose of the proposed soil investigation is to determine',whether diesel fuel has impacted the <br /> native soils surrounding the abandoned 6,000-gallon UST pit. The scope of work for RES'proposed <br /> UST investigation includes the following: <br /> 1) Prepare this work plan for the proposed investigation for submission to the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services, Environmental Health[Division (SJCEHD) for review and <br /> approval. <br /> 2) Obtain the necessary soil boring permits and schedule the borehole grouting inspection <br /> through the SJCEHD. <br /> 3) Advance exploratory boreholes in the vicinity of the abandoned UST pit using a truck <br /> mounted hollow stem auger drill rig. The first borehole shall be advanced through the center <br /> of the backfilled pit and tie-down slab, if possible, and four boreholes shall be advanced <br /> along the perimeter of the backfilled pit (one on each side). <br /> 'i <br /> 4) Obtain samples of the native soils encountered in'',�each of the boreholes at a depth <br /> corresponding to the bottom of the tie-down slab (approximately 10 feet below grade). <br /> 5) Analyze soil samples for TPH as diesel and the '''fuel components benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). <br /> 6) Evaluate laboratory data and prepare a report of the UST investigation. <br /> 2.0 INVESTIGATION METHODS <br /> i <br /> fi The following sections detail the field and analytical proced'u, res that will be utilized during the <br /> L <br /> investigation. <br /> i <br /> 2.1 Preliminary Activities <br /> Soil boring permits shall be obtained from the SJCEHD and i1borehole grouting inspection shall be <br /> scheduled prior to the start of fieldwork. <br /> Due to the limited scope of this investigation, the safety plan requirements of the OSHA Hazardous <br /> Waste Operations Standard (29 CFR 1910.120) shall be satisfied by the preparation of a record of <br /> the site safety meeting to be held prior to commencement of fieldwork. All employees of RES and <br /> r drilling contractor personnel have received the training and certification to meet the 40-hour initial <br /> and on-the-job proficiency level required by the Standard. <br /> 4185\CBW I\SPRDa.WP\VSEP%4 2 <br />
