i ^J
July, 19% - A 2,000 gallon gasoline UST, product lines and dispensing pump were
removed from the property. After taking samples, the removed soil was returned to the
hole; pea gravel was added to fill the excavation, and the site was compacted and covered
with asphalt. TABLE 1 summarizes the results of the laboratory analyses of the soil
samples taken after tank removal. Minor amounts of toluene, ethylbenzene, zylene, and
MTBE were detected; TPHg and lead were not identified.
January, 1997 - A "push-type" geoprobe unit was mobilized on the site at the
approximate location shown on PLATE M. Soil vapor samples were taken at 15', 30', &
45', and a water sample was taken at 46'. BTEX & TPH were measured in all soil vapor
samples. Toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and TPH were identified in the water sample.
MTBE was below detection limits in both soil-vapor and water samples. The results of
those analyses are summarized on TABLE H.
WORKPLAN FOR PLACING ONE (1) 2" GROUNDWATER MONITORING
WELL:
I. Mobilize properly licensed auger rig on location shown on PLATE IV. Rig to be
equipped with sufficient 8" hollow-stem augers to drill to 100' bgl without having to
decontaminate flights. Equipment to include at least two (2) split-spoon samplers and
✓ sufficent metal sleeves to complete project.
2. Soil samples will be taken at 5 foot intervals beginning at the first native soil
encountered beneath tank fill, and every 5' as directed by the Geologist in charge.
Although groundwater is anticipated at about 60'below grade, soil sampling may continue
beyond that depth depending upon results of field screening of samples.
3. Soil samples will be described by the Geologist, and selected samples will be preserved
for laboratory analysis. A portion of each core will be placed in a sealable plastic bag and
screened for hydrocarbon vapors with a PID meter or similar device.
4. After reaching final depth as determined by the Geologist and the San Joaquin Co.
EHD representative, 2" blank & slotted flush screw joint PVC casing will be run to
bottom. The casing will be equipped with a screw plug on bottom, and a minimum of 20'
of screen with .020" shop made slots.
5. The annular space between the hole and the casing will be filled with washed and
graded sand; it will extend a minimum of 2' above the top of the screen. The sand will be
sealed with at least 2'of bentonite(pellets or chips,)and wetted with water.
6. The remaining annular space will be filled with a cement/bentonite slurry placed with a
tremie pipe from the surface.
3
