Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
September 21, 1989
Robert Gallo ,
EP
E&J Gallo Winery
P. O. Box 1130
Modesto, CA 95353 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTFj
PERM;T/SERVICES
RE: Construction Permits for Monitor Wells Adjacent to LLNL Site 300
Dear Mr.Gallo:
As Albert Lamarre of our Environmental Restoration Division discussed with you a
couple of weeks ago,Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) needs to install
additional ground water monitor wells on your property south of Corral Hollow Road adjacent
to our Site 300. As you are aware, this monitoring is part of our ongoing investigation of
ground water contamination at Site 300 and you have previously given LLNL permission to
install these additional wells.
The San Joaquin County Local Health District now requires that they have written
documentation in their file that you have approved LLNL's well installation on your property.
In order to expedite the permit application process and to minimize additional inconvenience,
would you please sign this letter as indicated below, acknowledging your approval of our well
installation program on your property. Once you have done so, would you kindly either FAX
this letter to Ms.Eleanor Ratliff at (209) 464-0138 or mail it to her in the addressed, stamped
envelope enclosed. Your continued assistance in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Very truly yours,
4a', ry-at.
