t <br /> x • <br /> CALIF RNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> 3443 Routier Road <br /> Sacramento, California 95827 <br /> NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br /> and <br /> Notice of Application for Waste Discharge Requirements <br /> (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit) <br /> for <br /> UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br /> LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SITE 300 <br /> AND <br /> U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES <br /> Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied for an NPDES permit to <br /> discharge treated ground water from Site 300 near Tracy into Corral Ho i low Creek. <br /> LLNL is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy and operated by the University of <br /> California. The ground water treatment system is designed to treat 200 gallons <br /> per minute (gpm) of ground water contaminated with volatile organic compounds <br /> (VOCs) , primarily trichloroethylene, in the eastern General Services Area of <br /> Site 300. The proposed monthly average discharge rate is 60 gpm. The monthly <br /> median effluent limit is 0.5 ppb for eight VOCs, with a daily maximum of five ppb <br /> for the total of all eight. All other VOCs may not exceed 0.5 ppb. <br /> A public meeting concerning this matter will be held: <br /> DATE: 22 February 1991 <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> PLACE: State Capitol <br /> Room 447 <br /> (11th between L & N Streets) <br /> Persons wishing to comment or object to the proposed requirements are invited to <br /> submit same in writing to the Regional Board no later than 8 February 1991. All <br /> comments or objections received by this date will be considered in the draft <br /> waste discharge requirements. <br /> A public hearing may be held upon the request of any interested person. After <br /> considering comments or objections, the Board may issue waste discharge <br /> requirements. <br /> Anyone having questions on these requirements should contact Wendy Cohen at <br /> (916) 361-5676.
