CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM NO. 85-188 <br /> FOR <br /> UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br /> LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SITE 300 AND <br /> U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES <br /> Specific sample station locations shall be established under direction of the <br /> Board ' s staff, and a description of the stations shall be attached to this <br /> Order. <br /> Prior to construction, plans and specifications for ground water monitoring <br /> wells shall be submitted to Board staff for review and approval . <br /> GROUND WATER MONITORING <br /> Ground water samples shall be collected quarterly from four monitoring wells, <br /> one located hydraulically upgradient and three located hydraulically down- <br /> gradient of the high explosives (HE) wastewater surface impoundment. Samples <br /> shall be analyzed for the following parameters: <br /> total organic halogen (TOX) molybdenum <br /> total organic carbon (TOC) antimony <br /> pH arsenic <br /> electrical conductivity (EC) barium <br /> nitrate beryllium <br /> nitrite cadmium <br /> high explosives (HMX and RDX) chromium <br /> nickel cobalt <br /> selenium copper <br /> silver lead <br /> thallium manganese <br /> vanadium mercury <br /> zinc r <br /> After the first year of quarterly sampling, the Discharger shall perform a <br /> statistical analysis on the results for TOX , TOC, EC, and pH as outlined in <br /> California Administrative Code, Title 23, Chapter 3, Subchapter 15. Depending <br /> on the results of the statistical analysis, sampling frequency may be decreased <br /> to semi-annual after the first year. <br /> VADOSE ZONE AND LEACHATE MONITORING <br /> The leachate collection system of the HE pond will be inspected daily for the <br /> first month of operation and weekly thereafter for fluid accumulation.
