CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM NO. <br /> FOR <br /> UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br /> LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SITE 300 AND <br /> U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES <br /> Specific sample station locations shall be established under <br /> direction of the Boards staff , and a description of the stations <br /> shall be attached to this Order. <br /> Prior to construction, plans and specifications for ground water <br /> monitoring wells shall be submitted to Board staff for review and <br /> approval . <br /> GROUND WATER MONITORING <br /> Ground water samples shall be collected quarterly from four <br /> monitoring wells, one located hydraulically upgradient and three <br /> located hydraulically downgradient of the high explosives (HE) <br /> wastewater surface impoundment . Samples shall be analyzed for <br /> the following parameters : <br /> total organic halogen (TOX) molybdenum <br /> total organic carbon (TOC) antimony <br /> PH arsenic <br /> electrical conductivity (EC) barium <br /> nitrate beryllium <br /> nitrite cadmium <br /> high explosives (HMX and RDX) chromium <br /> nickel cobalt <br /> selenium copper <br /> silver lead <br /> thallium manganese <br /> vanadium mercury <br /> zinc <br /> After the first year of quarterly sampling, the Discharger shall <br /> perform a statistical analysis on the results for TOX, TOC, EC, <br /> and pH as outlined in California Administrative Code , Title 23 , <br /> Chapter 3 , Subchapter 15 . Depending on the results of the <br /> statistical analysis , sampling frequency may be decreased to <br /> semi-annual after the first year. <br /> VADOSE ZONE AND LEACHATE MONITORING <br /> The leachate collection system of the HE pond will be inspected <br /> daily for the first month of operation and weekly thereafter for <br /> fluid <br />
