Corral Hollow Road
Tracy, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD), has received your letter regarding the above referenced site dated
November 20, 2001, and offers the following response.
California Health and Safety Code Section 25299.37 provides PHS/EHD with the
authority to oversee corrective action that is necessary due to releases of
hazardous substances from underground storage tanks (UST's). Certification of
completion of site investigation with respect to contamination from the former
UST's at this site was provided in a PHS/EHD letter dated June 25, 1990.
California Health and Safety Code Section 101480 provides PHS/EHD with the
authority to supervise remedial action with respect to other wastes if there is
adequate staff resources and technical expertise. In the past PHS/EHD has
entered into remedial action agreements with responsible parties. Currently, we
do not have adequate staff resources to enter into these agreements.
PHS/EHD has a local ordinance requiring permits for installation of wells/borings.
Our approval was for installation of the temporary monitoring wells pursuant to
our ordinance authority.
If you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Margaret La^g'orio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
