' k` ■ KLEINFELDER
5 ANALYTICAL RESULTS
' During Kleinfelder's soil and groundwater assessment for the subject site, 40 of 44 soil samples
and 4 groundwater samples were submitted for analyses for petroleum constituents. Additional
analyses including metals, oxygenates, PCBs and volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds
' were conducted from selected soil and groundwater samples.
5.1 SOIL SAMPLING RESULTS
' Soil samples were collected from multiple areas of the site including three excavations and
' associated stockpiles, potholes, and temporary well borings. Forty (40) soil samples were
submitted for various analyses including petroleum constituents. A summary of the results are
illustrated in Tables I through 4. The following is a summary of the analytical results based on
' the differing areas and general chronology of field activities.
5.1.1 Shallow Excavation A
On June 20, 2001 Kleinfelder collected a total of nine soil samples from Shallow Excavation A
(SE-A) and Small Excavation B (SE-B). The following is a breakdown of the requested analyses
for each area followed by a summary of the results. A tabular summary is on the attached Table
1.
' A single soil sample was collected in SE-A and analyzed for:
' Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel [TPH-D] and oil (TPH-O]
by EPA Method SW8015B/DHS LUFT Manual.
TPH-D and TPH-O were not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits for this soil sample.
5.1.2 Small Excavation B
1 A total of eight soil samples were collected in SE-B area, six confirmation soil samples collected
from within the excavation and two four-point composite samples collected from excavated soil.
5.1.2.1 CONFIRMATION SAMPLING
' Each of the six confirmation samples collected within excavation SE-B were analyzed for the
following:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to diesel [TPH-D] and oil (TPH-O]
by EPA Method SW8015B/DHS LUFT Manual
' 20-4341-I1.E01/201 IR959 Page 16 of 31
Copyright 2001,Kleinfelder,Inc.
