Box 388 • Stockton, CA 95201-0388 p6R`'
209/468-3420
C (OPY
JIM HESSLER
CONNOLY RANCH INC
PO Box 811 MAY 10 1995
TRACY CA 95378
RE: CASTLE ROCK FIRE STATION SITE CODE: 1900
34580 CORRAL HOLLOW ROAD
TRACY CA 95376
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the March 8, 1995 "Preliminary Site
Assessment Report" prepared by Tetra Tech, Inc. for the above
referenced site.
The report provides a brief history of the site, a description of
the site investigation, a presentation of analytical results and
conclusions and recommendations based upon the data.
The report states that toluene at 4 .2 ppb and non detectable
organic lead found during the investigation coupled with the
concentrations reported during the UST removal, indicate that no
significant impact from the diesel UST has occurred, and no further
assessment or remedial action at the site appears warranted at this
time. Tetra Tech recommends closure.
The PHS/EHD letter of January 30, 1995 states that a WET test shall
be performed if the result of laboratory analysis for lead is
greater than 10 times the STLC. Title 22, Division 4, Article 11,
Section 66699 of the California Code of Regulations states that the
STLC and the TTLC values are calculated on the concentrations of
the elements not the compound. Organic lead is a compound. The
laboratory analyses for organic lead used during this investigation
are inconclusive for the presence or absence of elemental lead in
the former UST location or the stockpile.
The downgradient hydropunch HP2-W confirms the presence of toluene
at a concentration of 4 .2 ppb which is 13 times the detection limit
of .3 ppb in groundwater. This detection requires further
investigation to determine if the toluene is residual from the UST
removal, or, the hydropunch was located at the edge of a larger
downgradient plume.
A Division of San Joaquin County Heaith Care Services
