L v
Soil Raring Log
V
The soil boring log is kept by the field geologist. Its primary function is to record lithological
information. However, it is secondarily used to record the depths where samples were collected,
field screening information(FID and/or PID readings), and the boring/sampling location number.
Chain-of- toj&
L
The samples collected for chemical analysis are usually handled by the crew leader. This
individual seals the sample sleeves, prepares the sample label and fills out the sample chain of
custody form. The chain of custody forms include the boring/sampling location numbers, the
individual sample numbers, the analyses to be preformed on the sample, the date and time that
Leach sample is collected, any FID and PID readings, and relavent comments about the sampling.
Chain-of-custody will be maintained to the point at which the laboratory accepts the samples. All
samples are checked for integrity and compared with the chain of custody for completeness. The
laboratory will then log each sample into their laboratory management system and assume
custody of the samples. All samples collected will be received at the laboratory within 24 hours
4. of collection.
Daily Work Lo
A daily work log is used to record and summarize all of the site investigation work completed
s each day. It will include the following information: (1) the names of the personnel on-site, (2)
equipment in use, (3) materials used, (4) waste generation information, (5) the boring/sampling
location numbers, and(6) the quantity and depths of samples collected.
Drum Inventory Form
L An additional form is used to document and track investigation derived wastes (IDV) during
environmental assessment. Soil cuttings are generated by the drilling activities and wastewater is
generated by the equipment decontamination activities. These wastes are stored in 55-gallon
L drums, which must be stored on-site pending disposal. The project support team will fill-out a
drum inventory form as they collect each drum of soil cuttings and decontamination water.
tiw
f~
bw
C-5
v
v
