Wongdeff
From: Wong,Jeff
Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 4:29 PM
To: 'Garrett Readler'
Cc: Kith, Michael; Dan Hughes; Kevin Coleman; Naidu, Muniappa
Subject: RE: LBA Schulte - 14900 W. Schulte
Garrett:
Thanks for the clarification at today's GoToMeeting. EHD has the following comments to your proposal below:
1) Schedule inspection with EHD to verify removal of the 5' piece of 4" piping and plugging the remaining pipe with
concrete as described below, to the effect that drainage of both buildings are completely separate from the
septic system and cannot be connected.
2) Schedule inspection with EHD to verify permanent removal/plugging of the drain of the exterior concrete
basins where the fuel tanks will be sitting, so no fuel can ever enter the drains inside the two concrete buildings.
3) Schedule inspection with EHD to verify the floor drains inside the two concrete buildings and the two 2'x2'boxes
are indeed "closed", and there are no other outlets in these boxes.
4) Before any hazardous materials/waste can be stored onsite, the owner/operator must report it to the California
Environmental Reporting System (CERS) at cers.calepa.ca.gov/
- CERS is applicable on this site since there are the two diesel tanks outside the concrete buildings (each
greater than 55 gallons). Demonstrate to EHD that the "Emergency Response/Contingency Plan" section
(Section D) in CERS has been updated. Please notate in the section that the "floor drains", 'Tx2'boxes", and
any subsurface piping, drains, or containment will be kept empty at all times, and any release will be cleaned
up and the waste properly disposed in accordance to regulations immediately. Please be aware that storage
of hazardous materials/waste in a subsurface containment is prohibited except in a permitted underground
storage tank system.
Please schedule these inspection(s)with me as soon as possible. EHD will not agree to Final Occupancy and the
complaint will remain open until these conditions have been addressed.
Best Regards,
Jeff
From: Garrett Readler<greadler@kierwright.com>
Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 11:55 AM
To:Wong,Jeff<Jwong@sjgov.org>
Cc: Kith, Michael <mkith @sjgov.org>; Dan Hughes<dhughes@netdevco.com>; Kevin Coleman
<kcoleman@netdevco.com>
Subject: RE: LBA Schulte- 14900 W. Schulte
Importance: High
Jeff,
Per our conversation this morning I have updated the exhibit to further clarify exactly what we are
proposing. Currently, each building in the fire yard has a floor drain that is connected to a 4" sewer line
that connects to the 8" sewer line in the drive aisle. The 8" sewer line connects to the septic tank/leach
field. We are proposing to constructed a 2' x 2' concrete box over the 4" sewer lines exiting each building,
and then disconnecting the 4" sewer lines down stream of the concrete boxes. The plan will be to remove
