' kf] KLEINFELDER
3.0 SCOPE OF WORK
•
A Soil Boring/Morutormg Well Pemut was obtained prior to advancement of the Cone
Penetrometer Tests (CPTs) Soil and groundwater samples were obtained at the CPT locations
shown on Plate 1 Additionally, grab groundwater samples were obtained from an adjacent
dewatenng well (DW-32), and two samples were obtained from the dewatering discharge from the
Bore Pit near the southwest corner of I-5 and Country Club Drive Selected samples were
chemically analyzed
' 3 1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
' Kleinfelder met with San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental
Health Division (PHS/EHD), the City of Stockton, and the County of San Joaquin regarding soil
bonng/well and encroachment permitting The PHS/EHD permit approval was obtained prior to
initiating fieldwork The boring location was marked in white paint and Underground Service
Alert (USA) was notified at least 48 hours prior to drilling activities For a copy of the boring
' permit,please refer to Appendix B
3 2 SAMPLE THE BORE PIT DISCHARGE AND SELECTED DEWATERING WELLS
Grab water samples were obtained from 4 recently installed dewatenng wells on the project In
an attempt to mimmize waste for disposal, the wells were not purged prior to sampling
However, many of the dewatering wells had already been developed Only one of these wells
(Dewatenng Well 32, DW-32) existed in the subject area near the Shell station, and was sampled
' on April 5, 2003 Two grab groundwater samples were also obtained from the discharge of
sedimentation tank which handles discharge from the bore pit (west of I-5) on April 5 and 11,
2003
' The 3 samples were collected as described in Appendix A and submitted to Alpha Analytical,
p pp p yt ,
Inc of Sparks, Nevada, a State of California certified laboratory The following is a summary of
' the analyses for the two Bore Pit Samples and a single Dewatering Well DW-32
' The initial Bore Pit grab sample (April 5, 2003) was analyzed for the following
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Referenced to Diesel (TPH-D)
' • Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8015M/8020M
The second Bore Pit grab sample (April 11 2003) was analyzed for the following
' • Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)by EPA Method 1664
. • Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8260B
' • Volatile Organics by EPA Method 8260B
28699 E6E /ST03R627 Page 3 of 8
' Copyright 2003,Klemfelder,Inc April 22,2003
