Due to foundation stability considerations,it is likely that the tanks
were removed prior to redeveloping the site. In addition,an aerial photograph taken in 12/19/1975 shows the site vacant and a pile of earth/demolition
debris in the southeast corner. The tank removals were not overseen by San Joaquin County Environmental Health(SJCEHD).In 1995 SJCEHD filed
a Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release(Leak)/Contamination Report(URF)as a result of a Phase I&2 investigation conducted by
Geosystem Consultants, Inc.Soil samples were collected and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel(TPHD)and gasoline(TPHG)were detected. In
addition grab water samples were collected and TPHD,TPHG and benzene were detected.Site investigation started from 1995 through 2010.The site
investigation included CPA borings, monitor wells installation on and Off-site,soil vapor probes, routine groundwater monitoring sampling events and
various site investigation work reports. The mass of gasoline-related constituents has decreased over time due to natural attenuation processes at
continue to break down the chemicals Of concern in soil and groundwater. No remediation has been conducted on site and the current consultant
conducting investigation is Conestoga-Rovers&Associates(CRA).Currently the site is under closure consideration and waiting for public participation
to end.
SITE HISTORY
According to City of Stockton Building Department Records, the site was developed into a Shell Service station in 1949 and ceased operation in 1974.
Central Bank began leasing the land and construction in 1976 This Shell site is across the street from another UST-LOP site(1403 Country Club-
COP).According to Stockton Fire Department documents dated 1/25/1956,there were four underground storage tanks(UST)at this site. The USTs
on site were a 2.000-gallon,8,000-gallon,(2)3,000-gallon gasoline tanks and a 280-gallon waste oil tank.
