CAMBRIA
ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), or fuel oxygenates were detected in soil from these borings
Therefore., these bonngs delineate these constituents in soil above 40 fbg TPHd was detected at
16 ppm at 51 fbg in CPT-1 and at 2 0 ppm at 52 fbg in CPT-2 Therefore, CPT-1 and CPT-2
also delineate TPHd in soil above 60 and 58 fbg, respectively Soil samples collected from well
boring S-2 contained TPHg concentrations of 28 ppm at 25 fbg and 570 ppm at 30 fbg TPHg
was not detected in soil collected from the other well bonngs No benzene or fuel oxygenates
(by EPA Method 8260) were detected in soil from any of the well bonngs These activities are
documented in Cambria's July 14, 1998 Site Investigation Report
2003 Site Investigation During August 2003, Cambria drilled five CPT borings (CPT-3 through
CPT-7) Shallow soil samples (from 5 to 15 fbg) from the borings were analyzed for TPHd The
5-fbg samples from bonngs CPT-3, CPT-4, and CPT-7 contained 12 to 11 ppm TPHd TPHd
was not detected in deeper samples, and the laboratory noted that the hydrocarbon patterns did
not match the diesel standard and were unidentifiable
Groundwater samples were collected from all the borings in primarily sandy zones TPHd was
detected in groundwater samples from all the borings at concentrations ranging from 53 to
680 ppb The laboratory noted that none of the hydrocarbons reported as TPHd matched the
laboratory's diesel standard Upon further review, the laboratory determined that the
hydrocarbons were aged gasoline TPHg was also detected in groundwater samples from all the
borings at concentrations ranging from 79 to 2,000 ppb The laboratory noted that some of the
hydrocarbons reported as TPHg did not match the laboratory's gasoline standard and were due to
the presence of aged gasoline Benzene was detected in groundwater samples from borings
CPT-4 and CPT-6 at concentrations ranging from 16 to 21 ppb 1,2-DCA was detected in the
sample collected in boring CPT-6 at 85 fbg at 0 64 ppb Cambria summarizes this investigation
in our February 27, 2004 Site Investigation Report
Groundwater Monitoring Program• There are currently four monitoring wells onsite (S-1
through S-4) and two offsite monitoring wells (S-5 and S-6), located north of the subject site in
Elmwood Avenue Currently wells S-1 through S-4 are monitored and sampled quarterly and
wells S-5 and S-6 are monitored and sampled annually During the fourth quarter 2003 sampling
event, TPHd was detected in wells S-1 through S-3 at concentrations ranging from 180 to
980 ppb, however, the pattern generated by these samples do not match the laboratory's standard
for diesel TPHg was also detected in wells S-1 through S-3 at concentrations ranging from 130
to 12,000 ppb, however, the sample collected from well S-3 did not match the laboratory's
standard for gasoline Benzene was detected in wells S-1 and S-3 at 120 and 41 ppb,
i
0943 3
