Well borings S-5 and S-6 were drilled north of the site on Elmwood Avenue Soil samples collected
from 15 fbg, from both borings, did not contain detectable levels of TPPH, benzene, or fuel
oxygenates
The soil chemical analytical data are summarized in Table 2 and presented on Plate 2 The certified
analytical reports are presented in Appendix D
Hydrocarbon Distribution in Ground Water
Ground water samples were collected from CPT-1 at depths of 40, 50, and 60 fbg, and from CPT-2
at depths of 40 and 60 fbg An attempt was made to collect a water sample at 50 fbg from CPT-2,
but the formation did not produce sufficient ground water for sample collection at this depth
The ground water sample from CPT-I at 40 fbg contained 620 ppb TPPH, 280 ppb TEPH, 14 ppb
benzene, and 3 1 ppb MTBE The EPA 8260 analysis did not confirm the presence of MTBE in the
ground water sample from 40 fbg The ground water samples from CPT-1 at 50 and 60 fbg did not
contain detectable concentrations of TPPH, benzene, and fuel oxygenates, but contained 88 and 97
ppb TEPH, respectively Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water samples collected
from CPT-1
The ground water sample from CPT-2 at 40 fbg contained 680 ppb TPPH, 420 ppb TEPH, 21 ppb
benzene, and 8 6 ppb MTBE The EPA 8260 analysis confirmed the presence of MTBE in this
sample at 7 1 ppb The ground water sample from 60 fbg contained 110 ppb TPPH, 110 ppb TEPH,
and 2 7 ppb benzene MTBE and other fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water sample
from 60 fbg
Ground water samples collected from Well S-1 contained 1,400 ppb TPPH, 1,200 ppb TEPH, 45 ppb
benzene, and X10 ppb MTBE Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water samples
collected from this well with the exception of 49 ppb DIPE
Ground water samples collected from Well S-2 contained 23,000 ppb TPPH, 7,800 ppb TEPH, 190
ppb benzene, and 120 ppb MTBE The EPA 8260 analysts did not confirm the presence of MTBE
detected by the EPA 8020 analysis Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water samples
collected from this well
Ground water samples collected from Well S-3 contained 530 ppb TPPH, 530 ppb TEPH, 53 ppb
benzene, and non-detectable levels of MTBE Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water
samples collected from this well with the exception of 200 ppb DIPE
240-0943 6
