This work is being done as part of a property
transfer baseline assessment.
Soil borings will be located approximately at the locations shown on the attached site map. One
soil boring will be in the vicinity of the underground storage tanks, one soil, boring will be in the
vicinity of the pump islands, and one boring will be adjacent to each of the auto service buildings.
Soil samples will be collected at approximately 5-foot intervals from each boring using a stainless
steel geoprobe sampler. Up to two soil samples from each boring will be analyzed for analysis of
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes
(BTEX); and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel-extended (TPHD-extended). In addition, at
least one soil sample collected from the borings adjacent to the auto service buildings will be
submitted for analyses of chlorinated solvents (Environmental Protection Agency [EPA]
Method 8010), and polychlorinated biphenyls (EPA Method 8080).
Each soil boring will be advanced to first-encountered groundwater (anticipated to be
approximately 25 feet below ground surface), and a grab groundwater sample will be collected
from the borings with a HydroPuncho sampler. The water samples will be analyzed for analysis of
TPHG,, BTEX, TPHD-extended, and chlorinated solvents.
Drilling and sampling equipment will be decontaminated between .borings: Following soil and
groundwater sample collection, the borings will be backfilled with cement-bentonite grout.
Two to four weeks after receiving analytical results, EMCON will submit a letter report to San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Division presenting findings and certified analytical reports.
SAC/PJM52/09520900.2AS-94/pas:4
