The purpose of the
monitoring well is to further define the vertical and lateral extent of dissolved fuel oxygenate impacts
north of the site referenced above. If approved, this monitoring well will be installed during the
mobilization for previously proposed monitoring wells. A summary of previously proposed work is
presented below.
PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED WORK
Several work plans have been submitted proposing offsite monitoring wells in the vicinity of the site
to provide vertical and horizontal delineation.
On October 18, 2005, SECOR International Inc. (now Stantec) submitted the Work Plan for
Additional Site Assessment for the subject site above. The work plan proposed the installation of
three off-site shallow zone (approximately 25 feet below ground surface [bgs]) groundwater
monitoring wells (MW-14, MW-15, and MW-16), two off-site intermediate zone (70 to 80 feet bgs)
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-17 and MW-18), and one on-site deep zone (>140 feet bgs)
groundwater monitoring well (MW-19). Due to permitting and access issues with the City of
Stockton the work was never completed.
Since the submittal of the October 18, 2005 work plan, the nearby Shell Service Station installed
additional groundwater monitoring wells in three different hydrologic zones in the Fall of 2008
providing further off-site delineation. Stantec submitted Work Plan Addendum for Additional
Assessment on March 26, 2009. The work plan addendum proposed the installation of one off-site
intermediate groundwater monitoring well (MW-14). The location of the proposed well is down-
