'rhe initial workplan
---- detailed procedures for the drilling, installation and sampling of three groundwater monitoring
wells and two vadose zone wells (Figure 2). Results of that investigation revealed that both
groundwater and unsaturated soils have been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons.
Maximum hydrocarbon concentrations in soil were encountered near the former fuel dispenser
and piging locations and in the south wail of the former fuel tank excavation(Figure 4). This
distrrbuson appears to indicate a piping/dispenser Ieak as the source of the released
hydrocarbons. The apparent distribution of hydrocarbons in groundwater is consistent with
r
the measured direction of groundwater flow (Figure 5).
The source of hydrocarbon release was removed early this year and the extent of
hydrocarbons in soil appears to be defined. The extent of hydrocarbon migration in
groundwater has yet to be determined. rr recommends additional assessmr^*.activities to
include utilizing the Hydropunch®technique for groundwater sample collection.
Regional Office
4585 Pacheco Boulevard•Ma-linez.California 94553.41.5-372-9100
-- - -
Corparafton
fI Corporanon is a wholly owned subsidiary of fnmerrononal Technology --
