1 f
An anomaly was noted in comparing the groundwater elevations between wells MW-3 and
• MW-7, located approximately 5 feet away. As indicated in Table 1, the difference in
groundwater elevation since June of 1993, when data for both wells became available, and
November 1994 has ranged from 0.02 to 0.04 feet above mean sea level (msl). In February
1995, the difference between these wells was 0.34 feet msl and was 0.66 feet msl during this
sampling event. In addition, the groundwater elevation data for MW-3 for both the February
and April 1995 events does not follow the seasonal variation noted in the other wells at the
site. It source of this discrepancy is not known at this time but appears to have occurred
sometime between the November 1994 and the February 1995 monitoring events. During the
next scheduled sampling event, the field staff will inspect MW-3 to assess whether any
recent disturbance to this well may have occurred.
The groundwater elevation data for well MW-3 was, therefore, not used in preparing the
groundwater elevation contour map (Figure 2) for this report. The groundwater elevation
contour map prepared for the February 15, 1995 sampling event (Ahsto report No. 10-037-03-
003, dated April 19, 1995) has been revised accordingly and is presented in this report as
Figure 4.
An anomaly was also noted in the analytical report for the trip blank sample (QC-2). The
analytical report indicates that benzene and toluene were detected in this "blank" sample.
The laboratory -was contacted regarding this report and they reviewed their analysis. No
errors or miscalculations were found and the reported detection of benzene and toluene
remain unexplained.
I
i
