INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Executive Summary
International Technology Corporation (IT) was retained by BP Oil Company in December
1991 to conduct quarterly sampling of the existing monitoring wells on their site located at
1403 Country Club Boulevard in Stockton, California. The wells were sampled in order to
detect whether there had been a lateral dissemination of petroleum contaminants, encountered
upon removal of seven underground storage tanks from the site.
Groundwater samples were collected on March 9, 1992, from three of the six (MW-5, MW-6
and MW-7) onsite monitoring wells. Upon analysis, the samples from wells MW-6 and MW-
7 revealed no detectable levels of petroleum hydrocarbons. The sample collected from well
MW-5 revealed low levels of petroleum components only.
The remaining monitoring wells, MW-1, MW-3 and MW-4, have not contained water since
February 1991; therefore, no quarterly samples have been collected from these wells. During
a recently executed soil vapor extraction (SVE) pilot test these wells served as pressure
monitoring points, providing useful information. IT recommends leaving the wells in place if
an SVE system is installed in the future.
MZJ03-17-92/UST/0097MER iii
