L <br /> 6ETTLER - RYAN 1 <br /> January 24, 2001 <br /> Mr David J Camille 'r <br /> Tosco Marketing Company µ, ms <br /> 2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400 - <br /> _ San Ramon, CA 94583 <br /> RE: Sixth,Seventh and Eighth Weekly Events of December 19 and <br /> December 26,2000 and January 2,2001 <br /> Groundwater Purging and Disposal <br /> Tosca (Former BP)No. 11192 <br /> 1403 Country Club Boulevard,Stockton, California <br /> Mr Camille <br /> At the request of Tosco Marketing Company (Tosco), Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this <br /> report to document groundwater sampling, purging and disposal conducted for the subject site <br /> The work was performed in accordance the GR's Work Plan for Groundwater Purging and <br /> Disposal, dated September 6, 2000, and with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Division correspondence dated November 2, 2000 <br /> iGroundwater Purging and Disposal <br /> On December 19, 26, 2000 and January 2, 2001 approximately 3,500 to 3,800 gallons of <br /> groundwater were removed from monitoring well MW-3 by Onyx Industrial Services (Onyx) of <br /> Benicia, California The groundwater was purged directly from the well into a Onyx vacuum truck <br /> and transported to the Tosco Refinery in Rodeo, California for disposal <br /> Groundwater Sampling <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from MW-3 prior to and following purging A water <br /> sample was also collected from the purged groundwater prior to its removal from site <br /> Groundwater samples are submitted under Chain of Custody for analysis at Sequoia Analytical <br /> (FLAP # 127 1) Groundwater samples are analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as <br /> Gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by <br /> EPA Method 8020 and ethanol, tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE), di- <br /> isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) by EPA <br /> Method 8260B The analytical results for the December 12 and 26 2000 and January 2, 2001 <br /> sampling events are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2 <br /> MTBE Mass Removal - <br /> The estimated mass of MTBE removed was calculated using the average MTBE concentration <br /> from the pre-purging (MW-3-PRE) and post-purging (MW-3-POST) grab groundwater samples <br /> Based on this average concentration, an estimated total of 1196 pounds of MTBE was removed <br /> r from the site during the December 12 and 26, 2000 and January 2, 2001 purging events The <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J • Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
