•
equipment or in the laboratory As a precautionary measure, the
analyses of water samples from the 2/96 event were performed by
Sherwood Labs, Inc As summarized on TABLE I and shown on
laboratory sheets included with this report, both wells were
non-detect for all tested compounds
4 PLATES II through VI show the estimated lines of equal
concentration of benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene, & TPHg
based on the latest test results They generally follow the same
pattern shown in the WJH report dated January 12 ' 1996, which
covered the soil/groundwater investigation
performed
1995, and quarterly monitoring in December, 1995ReferOtoothat
report for more details .
CONCLUSIONS -
1 The limits of the soil & water plumes have been defined in
all directions
2 The groundwater plume has migrated no more than 100 feet to
the north and 125 feet to the west of the site of UST' s, which
were removed in 1989 . The highest levels of BTEX & TPHg have
consistently been recorded from MW-1, indicating that there has
• been very little movement of the contamination.
3 Additional investigative work is not required
RECOMMENDATIONS :
1 It is recommended that measurement & sampling of MW-1, MW-2,
& MW-3 be changed to a semi-annual schedule
2 . It is also recommended that sampling of MW-4 & MW-5 be
discontinued, but water level measurements should be taken in
conjunction with sampling and analysis of MW-1, 2 , & 3
3 We believe there is sufficient information available so that
an efficient, cost effective remediation system can be designed
and installed to reduce soil and water contamination to
acceptable levels If your office agrees with this assessment,
we will prepare a bid package to send to qualified firms for
recommendations for remediating the site
Your timely review and response to this report will be greatly
appreciated
SCJ
Wm unter & Associates
cc • nchez
RW CB
p 7
2 No 860
OF CAL1E
