• RESULTS OF UARTERLYGROUNT
DWATER MONITORING
GROUNDWATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
Figure 4 shows the groundwater elevation gradient and flow direction determined from
depth to water measurements at the five on-site monitor wells on September 27, 2000
The groundwater elevation has decreased by an average of 2 63 feet at the five monitor
wells since the previous quarterly monitoring round on June 8, 2000 The groundwater
elevation gradients form a trough through the site with flow towards the northeast The
predominate groundwater elevation gradient (MW3 towards MW4) at the site for
September 27, 2000 averaged 0 0005 feet/linear foot and varied between 0 0017
feet/linear foot from MW1 towards MW4 and 0 0008 feet/linear foot from MW8 towards
MW2
RESULTS OF CERTIFIED ANALYSIS OF GROUNDWATER SAMPLES
The results of the certified analyses of groundwater samples collected from the five
monitor wells on September 27, 2000 are shown in Table I Copies of the laboratory
reports are included as Appendix C of this report
TPH-G concentrations ranged from a maximum of 27000 ug/l at MW i to less than the
laboratory detection limits of 50 ug/l at the remaining four monitor wells
Benzene concentrations ranged from a maximum of 3400 ug/1 at MW I to less than the
laboratory detection limits of 0 5 ug/I at MW3, MW4, and MW5
MTBE concentrations ranged from a maximum of 97 ug/l at MWI to less than the
laboratory detection limits of 0 5 ug/1 at MW2 and MW4
Figure 5 shows the distribution of TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE in groundwater as
determined from groundwater samples collected on September 27, 2000 The decrease in
tiroundwater elevation at the site since the previous quarterly monitoring round did not
produce significant changes in the concentrations of TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE observed
in the five monitor wells at the site
RECOMMENDATIONS
Proceed with the workplan dated October 6, 2000 to provide specifications for the
following items that have been pre-approved by the UST Cleanup Fund Program
I) Install offsite monitor well(s) west of NIW 1 to define downgradient extent of
groundwater contamination plume
Sanchez QM 7-9, 2000
