Mr Michael J Infurna Jr February 28, 2002
Senior REHS
Leaking Underground Fuel Storage Tank Program
San Joaquin County Public Health
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)
304 East Weber Ave , Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
(209) 468-3454
RE Revision to January 10, 2002 Revised Workplan for limited over-excavation during
installation of air sparging/vapor extraction trench in former UST area at the Sanchez property,
1876 Country Club Blvd , Stockton, CA
Dear Mr Infurna
INTRODUCTION
The November 27, 2001 workplan was developed to perform limited over-excavation in the former
UST area to remove gasoline range contaminated soils and help expedite the remediation efforts
Pnor to excavating, a pump test was to be performed to define the pump rate necessary for
dewatering the area to be excavated The revised workplan dated January 10, 2002 indicated that
preliminary modeling indicated that monitor wells MW1, MW2 and MW3 should be destroyed
prior to performing the pump test San Joaquin County reviewed this workplan and their evaluation
of a similar site (2103 Country Club) where pump tests were performed indicate that dewatering
prior to excavating is not practical due to the high pump rate that would be necessary San Joaquin
County suggested that quick digging through the saturated zone while pumping the groundwater
that enters the excavation have been performed at similar sites The following revised workplan
addresses Sail Joaquin Countys concerns and addresses the removal of the secondary source of
groundwater contamination (gasoline tainted soils)
LOCATION
The address of this Sanchez site is 1876 Country Club Blvd , Stockton, CA It is located at the
southeast comer of the intersection of Mission Street and Country Club Blvd (Figure 1) The
property is located in projected Section 4, TIN, R6E of the MDB&M at approximately five feet
above mean sea level (Figure 2)
The property previously contained two 1000 gallon gasoline Underground Storage Tanks (UST's),
product dispensers, and associated underground piping (Figure 3) The UST's, dispensers, and
piping were removed from the site in 1989
2 Sanchez Rev WP 2-02
