RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> 1) One week prior to over-excavating gasoline contaminated soils, place an electric <br /> submersible pump into RIA and pump at 10 gpm Continue pumping during over- <br /> excavation All pumped water will be placed into a 21,000 gallon capacity Baker <br /> Tank, then passed through four in senes water carbon units pnor to be discharged to <br /> sanitary sewer under Special Permit for Groundwater Discharge from the City of <br /> Stockton <br /> 2) Over-excavate former UST - piping and dispenser areas to approximately 24 feet <br /> bgs, see Figure 8 Backfill excavation with piping and pea gravel for use in future <br /> vapor extraction/air sparging and groundwater recovery <br /> 3) Conduct airsparging/vapor extraction pilot test using air sparging in conjunction with <br /> the installation of horizontal vapor collection piping within a backfilled over- <br /> excavation area that traverses the former UST -dispenser areas <br /> TIIMIE (FRAME <br /> ® Prior to performing the next step, i e , Dewater and over-excavation, obtain pre-approval <br /> for reimbursement from the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund The dewatering <br /> and over-excavation will be scheduled for two weeks after receiving written <br /> reimbursement preapproval It is anticipated that the work will be able to commence in <br /> late October 2002 <br /> LIMITATIONS <br /> The discussion presented in this report is based on the following <br /> 1 The observations and data collected by field personnel <br /> 2 The results of laboratory analyses performed by a state certified analytical laboratory <br /> 3 Our understanding of the regulations of San Joaquin County and State of California <br /> Changes in groundwater conditions can occur due to variations in rainfall, temperature, <br /> local and regional water use, and local construction practices In addition, variations in <br /> the soil and groundwater conditions could exist beyond the points explored in this <br /> investigation State Certified Laboratory analytical results are included in this report <br /> This laboratory follows EPA and State of California approved procedures, however, <br /> WEGE is not responsible for errors in these laboratory results <br /> The services performed by Western Geo-Engineers, a corporation under California <br /> Registered Geologist #3037 and/or Contractors License #513857, have been conducted <br /> in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of <br /> our profession currently practicing under similar conditions in the State of California and <br /> 7 QM 3rd 2002 <br />
