. began in late 1994 until the end of 1997. Thereafter, concentrations declined rapidly and became
asymptotic. Concentrations have been low in KF-3 and below detection limits in KF-2 since the end
of the year 2000.
Figure 6 is a revised version of the gasoline plume map that was prepared for the PAR. The revised
map includes the latest laboratory results for the Kwikee site, but not for the Chevron site. When
the original map was prepared in May 2001, a TPH-g concentration of 834 parts per billion, was
detected in KF-5, but the concentration decreased to 91 ppb in August and below 50 ppb in
November. Based on this trend, the eastern limit of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons has been moved
to the west of this well. In addition, a dashed line representing the eastern limit of xylene has been
added as a result of the detection of this compound in KF-1, 2, and 4.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The long-term trend of decreasing hydrocarbon concentrations, relatively consistent groundwater
flow patterns, and the evidence that groundwater contamination beneath the property originated
from an off-site source all support the conclusion that this site should be closed with no further
investigation or remediation. Despite a generally eastward groundwater flow direction over time,
contaminants are not migrating eastward to the neighboring property, and in fact the evidence
favors the interpretation that the plume is shrinking and retreating westward. This may be due to
remediation efforts that are underway at 2103 Country Club Boulevard, in addition to natural
attenuation of the hydrocarbons.
We recommend that the monitor wells be removed from 2081 and 2071 Country Club and the
stored purge water be transported to a permitted waste disposal facility-.
5
