Mr. Mark Nelson
December 1, 1986
Page 2
It is Groundwater Technology's opinion that additional
assessment work is necessary. This decision is based upon the
existence of hydrocarbons in soils, the presence of free product
on the groundwater, the possibility of off-site contamination
sources and the close proximity to major surface water bodies.
These conditions, combined with the fact that all groundwater in
the Stockton area is a potential source of drinking water, make
this a highly sensitive site.
The following recommendations are presented based upon the
site conditions and sensitivity as described within the report.
° Subsequent to well development, obtain and analyze
water samples from the monitoring wells to determine
if the groundwater has been impacted by the observed
hydrocarbons.
° Survey the well head elevations and determine the
groundwater gradient to help define the extent,
possible source and potential impact of the contami-
nation.
° Communicate further with the San Joaquin Local Health
District to obtain additional information concerning
the reported leak and failed percision tank test on
other properties in the vicinity of the site.
° Based upon the results of the additional site assess-
ment, develop recommendations concerning further
assessment and remedial action, if necessary.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this matter,
please contact us at (415 ) 671-2387.
Respectfully,
GROUNDWATER TECHNOLOGY, INC.
Robert W. unca
Hydrogeologist
Gary B.
