PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration and
response.
Please note that based on the vertical extent of soil contamination evidenced to 46.5 feet below
ground surface (bgs) it will be necessary to install a deeper monitoring well to verify that the
deeper zone of groundwater has not been impacted by the release and to complete the
assessment. Also, evaluation of various remedial alternatives should be initiated, because after
the assessment is complete a corrective action plan pursuant to the Underground Storage Tank
Regulations will be required.
The report included a recommendation to install an additional well southwest of MW8. Please
proceed with obtaining a Caltrans encroachment permit. Once the Caltrans permit is obtained,
please submit a PHS/EHD drilling permit application and $89 fee. Please consider installing the
deeper well during the same mobilization event.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
cc: Joe Neely, Enviros
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
